Who We Are

Animal Rescue League was born in 2003 after we were told to euthanize a severely injured stray cat named Isis.

We refused.

Isis survived — and that moment became the foundation of everything we do.

ARL is a No-Kill, all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a cage-free sanctuary in Sacramento.

We rescue the homeless animals — the strays, the abandoned, the abused — the ones who have nowhere else to go.

Our mission extends to all vulnerable animals in need of protection and care.

What We Do

Our goal is rehabilitation and placement into loving forever homes whenever possible.

But when adoption is not possible, the animals remain with us — safely housed in our home-like sanctuary for the remainder of their natural lives.

We do not give up on them.

Ever.

Why It Matters

The homeless animal population continues to grow.

Senior cats are abandoned late in life.

Injured strays are overlooked.

Medically fragile animals are often deemed “too costly” or “not adoptable.”

We believe every animal has value.
